His military leadership and service, the success of the economic development groups he helped create in central Maine, his work in the Maine Senate preventing reckless borrowing, curbing excessive spending, and revamping corrupt systems. Today, the Maine Center for Public Opinion (MECPO) has released the most comprehensive Republican gubernatorial primary poll to date. A randomly selected statewide sample of 915 likely Republican primary voters were interviewed by telephone between May 22nd, 2010 and June 2nd, 2010. Though undecided voters remain the largest block at 24%, Senator Peter Mills leads the pack with 22.1% inclined to support him. Following behind is Leslie Otten at 17%, Steve Abbott at 13.9%, and Mayor Paul LePage at 10.7%.
