Under President Bush he served as the Chairman of the Board of Veterans’ Appeals of the Department of Veterans Affairs. In 1982, Charlie was the Republican nominee for governor of Maine.

“Hoddy” Hildreth of Falmouth is the son of former governor Horace Hildreth Sr. He is chairman of Diversified Communications, a Portland-based magazine publisher, broadcast company and trade show producer. In his early career he worked as a lobbyist for the paper industry. That led Hoddy to join the Maine Senate where he drafted the location of development law and the first wet wetlands control law, which applied to coastal waters. Hoddy has been chairman of the boards of the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund and the Island Institute. In 2008 he received Maine Audubon’s Distinguished Contribution Award.

Prior to joining Muskie, Gino was a senior consultant with Watson Wyatt, an international actuarial and benefits consulting firm. Other experience includes president and chief operating officer at MD-Individual Practice Association, a regional health maintenance organization (HMO).

Carol McElwee from Caribou spent 35 years in the classroom as an English/speech teacher. She has taught several courses as an adjunct professor for the University of Maine at Presque Isle, Husson and Northern Maine Community College, and is currently teaching at the Caribou Adult Education Center. Carol has been an English teacher for the Upward Bound program and also works for the Regional Gifted and Talented program. As a member of Caribou Kiwanis Club, Aroostook Retired Teachers’ Association, Northern Skiers and Nordic Heritage Sports Center, Carol remains quite active in the community. She is also a director for the Nylander Museum and the Caribou Children’s Discovery Museum.

Allen and Sally Fernald own Down East Magazine. The Fernalds are also involved with the Farnsworth Museum, the University of Maine (where Allen is now chair of the Board of Visitors), their own church, the Camden YMCA, and the Maine Community Foundation. In 2005, they deeded the 86-acre summit of Bald Mountain in Camden to the Coastal Mountains Land Trust for conservation and public access.

Leonard is the Executive Director of FirstPark, business and technology center in Oakland. He has previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Community Development at the State of Maine’s Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), Director of Maine’s Small Business Commission, Economic Development Director for Kennebec Valley Council of Governments, CDBG Specialist and Program Manager of DECD’s Community Development Block Grant program, and the Community Development Director for Belfast, Maine, Gardiner, Maine, and Town of Pittsfield.

Thomas Shields MD is a former state representative from Auburn. A retired orthopedic surgeon, Thomas also served as a major in the US Air Force.
David Guernsey
A retired physicist with a career in real estate development, David has served as the President of the Sugarloaf Area Chamber of Commerce. He has also served on the Maine Citizens Advisory Committee – Northern Forest Lands Council, Town of Carrabassett Valley Committee to refinance Sugarloaf Mountain, Franklin County Economic Development Advisory Committee, Regional Transportation Advisory Committee, and the Kingfield Comprehensive Planning Committee. He chaired the Kingfield Planning Board, the Route 27 Scenic Byway Committee, and the Kingfield Zoning Update Committee.
Christopher Livesay
Christopher is an attorney and former state representative from Brunswick. He is also a former member of the Inland Fish and Wildlife Commissioner’s Non-Game Advisory Council. Currently, he serves as president of the board of the Maine Historical Society and is a Trustee of Parkview Memorial Hospital.
John and Koko Harris
The Harris’ ran a successful furniture business. They currently live in S. Bristol.


Steve Burlock
A trial attorney, Steve co-owns a small law practice in Bangor. Currently a Board Governor of the Maine State Bar Association, Steve has previously chaired the Bangor Board of Appeals.
