Now geared to focus on reaching out to voters and moving the campaign to the next phase, Mills says, “Marc brings the needed skills and experience to our growing team. His background in fundraising, public speaking and writing will help us form a winning campaign team. As a former pastor and current teacher, Marc has the capacity to energize and lead.”
Pitman leaves his position as the chief fundraiser for Inland Hospital and Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville to join the “Mills for Maine” team. Excited about the opportunity to improve his home state, Pitman says, “I’ve long admired Senator Mills’ courage to stand for what is right, even in the face of intense political pressure. The Senator’s record in the Maine Legislature demonstrates he is a bold leader with integrity. I’m thrilled to join Senator Mills, his staff and many volunteers to help craft a bold campaign for success!”

Marc, So how do you achieve fiscal restraint, government accountability AND also economic expansion????
Jane, one of the simplest ways to expand Maine’s economy is to “get government out of the way,” as Peter would say. Our regulatory environment is cumbersome and confusion. Other means of expanding the economy as laid out in Peter’ plan include:
Prioritizing infrastructure – the cost savings can be achieved through trimming duplicate services and making our delivery of human services more efficient.
The Fund of Funds – attracting private venture capital with state backing.
Lowering electricity rates – we already produce more power than we use, why are our rates the highest in the nation? Poor negotiation. If Hydro-Quebec wants to run power through Maine we should benefit. If wind power producers want to use our mountaintops, we should benefit. Negotiating lower electricity rates will encourage business growth.
Controlling health care costs – Peter answers that best here:

Lower the income and capital gains tax.
