Peter Mills at Rockland KiwanisOn Monday, Peter Mills spoke to the Rockland Kiwanis club. The event took place at the local Rockland restaurant, Amalfi on the Water.

Peter presented to Kiwanis members his perspective on Maine’s current budget crisis, as well as the need for accountability in education and health and human services. “Maine taxpayers should have a better idea of where their money goes and how much value is added through state programs,” Mills said. “Right now, that’s just not happening.”

He went on to answer questions from the audience about school consolidation, wind power, and budget issues. During 15 years in the state legislature, Senator Mills has served as the Republican lead on Tax, Labor, Judiciary, Appropriations, Insurance, Education and Health & Human Services Committees. He is outspoken in advocating for sensible change in tax policy, accountability in school funding, and managing public services for results. He is widely known as a coalition builder with practical, independent views and a business-like approach to state finances.
